The Building Craftsmen Dumfries sponsored Solway Sharks have added some firepower to their line up with the addition of former Blackburn Hawks forward Richard Bentham.
Bentham is no stranger to the Sharks after playing in Dumfries in 14/15 and starting the year in 16/17 before returning to Blackburn.…
The 28 year old forward is consistently near the top of the scoring charts and has put up good numbers in the NIHL since he and back to the league from the EPL.
Bentham is a player who has EPL experience and was also a GB junior internationalist and he will be hoping to provide an offensive threat as the Sharks look to continue improving from last season.
Head Coach Martin Grubb had the following to say “we are very happy to be able to bring Richard back to the Sharks even if it was something of an unexpected move.
“With us losing Dunc it was always on my mind to look at how we could add more British scoring and with Dickie we have done that.
“We had a good chat around our needs as a team and how we seen him fitting in and how important it was for him to come in and show just how good he can be while enjoying his hockey and I think we will see a better player than we had previously and I know he is desperate to get started and really excited to be part of this club again.”
On his return Bentham commented “I am buzzing to be back at Solway and be able to team up with the boys again to try and improve upon our fourth place finish last year.
“I feel I am coming back with some unfinished business and after speaking to the club I realise what my role will be and am desperate to have success with the team.
“I feel I can contribute and help the team and that is my goal along with us finishing as high as we can in the table. I can’t wait to get started and back with a great group of boys and fans.”
Richard Bentham’s #91 shirt is available on the owned and loaned scheme, priced at just £100 per shirt. If you are interested in this or any sponsorship options then contact rab.murray@solwaysharksihc
