Duncan was a huge part of last seasons treble winning team and the twenty year old contributed twenty-seven points last season including the play-off semi-final OT winner.
He started the season in the Elite League with Edinburgh Capitals playing limited minutes on defence and recently had been playing in his more familiar forward position earning MOM against Sheffield Steelers.
On the signing Head Coach Martin Grubb commented “I am obviously delighted to be able to bring a player of Dunc’s quality back to the Sharks and he will help us improve. He has grown into one of the better forwards in Scotland at his age and I felt it strange he was being played as a “D” in Edinburgh. Dunc is a team guy and just wants to play so would happily help his team and it would have been a good learning experience for him. It is always tough with nine import forwards ahead of you but we just hope to benefit from what he has learned and I’m sure he will enjoy his hockey and contribute to what we want to achieve here”.
Speirs himself added “I am very grateful to the Edinburgh Capitals and to Scott and Dimitri for the opportunity to play in the EIHL. I wish the team and my former team mates all the best for the future and thank the Capitals fans for their support in my time there. I really need to be in a position where I am playing and learning the game and I have decided that coming back here fits in with both work and hockey. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the ice and helping the Sharks win and use the experience I gained in Edinburgh to make me a better player”.
Duncan will be wearing his familiar #38 and both his home and away shirts are available to be owned and loaned at just £100 each. Duncan should be in the line-up this weekend pending clearance.
