The BCD Solway Sharks travelled down to Shropshire on Saturday to play the Telford Tigers NIHL in the first leg of a road trip double-header and came away with a comfortable six-one victory.
After a tight opening to the match Ross Murray (12:30) opened the scoring after good work from Duncan Speirs and Stevie Moore. Before the first break Struan Tonnar (14:38 & 16:39) had put the Sharks well clear with two well-taken strikes with Juraj Senko and Jordan Buesa picking up credits on both strikes.
The second period saw the Sharks continue to dominate and Struan Tonnar (25:44, 35:12 & 37:14 PP) added three more goals to his tally with Jordan Buesa (2), Kim Miettinen, Ben Edmonds and Juraj Senko all picking up assists.
In the final session the Sharks may have taken their foot off the pedal with one eye on Sundays’ fixture at Solihull but it did allow the Tigers to rob Callum Hepburn of his shut-out when James Smith (46:12 PP) found the net for the home side on a powerplay.
Not surprisingly five-goal Struan Tonnat picked up the Man of the Match Award for Solway.
