With the visitors icing a very young and inexperienced team they struggled to contain the Sharks and offered very little as an attacking threat but to their credit they never let their heads drop and fought until the final buzzer.
Solway didn’t find the opened until the eighth minute when Duncan Speirs (07:46) converted after good work from Vaclav Kolarik and Kyle Horne but this was soon followed by three more counters from Scott Henderson (10:15 & 13:34) and Ross Murray (11:57).
The home side were quicker off the mark in the second period with Marek Charvat (20:22) taking just twenty-two seconds to net after slick build up play from Stevie Moore and Duncan Speirs. Charvat (22:05) soon found the mark again to make the score six-nil and goals followed from Daniel Abercrombie (22:34), Vaclav Kolarik (26:49), Duncan Speirs (28:57) and Iain Bowie (33:46).
With the score standing at ten-nil going into the final period there was no chance of a comeback for the visitors but they fought hard to stop the Sharks whenever they could with special mention going to young Myles Dallison (pictured) who made a number of fine saves while facing no less than eighty-two shots in his Senior debut for Nottingham.
For the record the Sharks ran in a further five goals in the final session from Marek Charvat (42:59 & 49:59), Struan Tonnar (54:23), Scott Henderson (58:13) and Ross Murray (59:46).
The Man of the Match Awards were presented to Myles Dallison for Nottingham and to Scott Henderson for Solway.
