The Solway Sharks have continued to bolster their defensive unit with the re-signing of experienced defenceman Kyle Horne.
The former Fife Flyers and GB international blueliner signed for the Sharks last season and quickly showed his ability to make a pass and read the game and contributed 23 points from the blue line.
Kyle cane to the Sharks after spending 10 straight years in the EIHL with Edinburgh Capitals and FIfe Flyers and like last season the team will use his experience at the top level of the game to help achieve the goals set and help take the Sharks to the next level.
On re-signing Horne, Head coach Martin Grubb said “I am happy we are able to bring Kyle back again for another season.
“His experience is a huge help to both our young players and the team itself and it is something we were determined to keep within our squad.
“He sees the ice really well, makes good first passes and reads the game at both ends of the ice and we need that as we look to improve.
“He is a leader and the players like what he brings to the dressing room and he will be an important part of our team again.”
Kyle himself commented “I really enjoyed last year and I thought we had a good year but was disappointed with how our season ended and we are all determined to put that right this year.
“We have a good mix of youth and experience and I like the team Martin is building and I am excited to play my part.
“I like the way the league is shaping up and we are looking to make sure we are challenging at the top end again and with hard work and our team spirit I am sure we will be up there.
“I also enjoyed working with the juniors and beginners last year in Dumfries and want to help out with growing the club and I am looking forward to the season ahead.”
Kyle Horne’s #5 is available on the owned and loaned scheme, priced at just £100 per shirt. If you are interested in this or any sponsorship options then contact email@example.com.
