On the night Solway were missing no less than six regular players; Ben Edmonds, Connor Henderson, Struan Tonnar, Callum Hepburn, Scott Henderson and long-term injury absentee Ross Murray. Nevertheless, in a fairly even first session the home side took the lead when Jozef Istocy (07:26) found the net after good build-up play from Baldwin and Davies and despite the best efforts of both teams there was to be no further goals before the3 first interval.
The Sharks struck back early in the second period when Daniel Abercrombie (21:57) shot home with assists on the play going to Jordan Buesa and Stevie Moore. The home side refused to buckle and took the lead again forty-three seconds later when Aaron Davies (22:40) found the net. The Blackburn stalwart was a constant thorn in the Sharks side and picked up his second and third assists of the night as firstly Jozef Istocy (36:15) and then Nicholas Oliver (38:35) gave the Hawks a four-one lead by the second intermission.
Solway began the final period on the front foot and Juraj Senko (42:39) gave the travelling support when he score after being set up by Marc Fowley and Stuart Kerr. Jozef Istocy (50:46) completed his hat trick mid-way through the final period with a solo effort. While Stevie Moore (53:27) gave the Sharks faithful hope when he converted from Joe Coulter and Juraj Senko Aaron Davies (53:52) was instantly on hand to restore the home sides three goal advantage with what proved to be the last scoring action of the night.
