Please take a couple of minutes to help a member of our hockey family achieve a much needed & deserved dream....

www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/caitlinsdream

Parents, coaches and friends at Solway Sharks Junior Ice Hockey Club and Solway Super Sundays are looking for your help in fundraising for a little girl who has became part of our #hockeyfamily.

We will be doing a sponsored waxing at the Paisley Blackhawks tournament in Dumfries on the 26th of May.

There will also be limited edition SSS and Caitlin's Dream training tops available to purchase and all profits made from these will go to Caitlin's Dream fund.

Parents Chris and Rachel have devoted so much time and commitment to our club through an incredibly difficult time in their lives, it's now time for us to give something back.

Daughter Caitlin was just 5 years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and is nearing the end of just over 2 years off treatment. Over the last year the family have travelled from their home in Newcastle to Dumfries for training and all over Scotland for son William (Wee Wug) to play the game he loves.

Let’s help Caitlin make one of her dreams come true by helping send her to Disneyworld Florida to meet the princesses.

This is some of Caitlin's story in her mum Rachel's words;
Caitlin was diagnosed on the 22nd march 2016, she had just turned 5. Her treatment has been 2yrs 10weeks of chemotherapy and having multiple trips to theatre to receive Chemo into her spinal fluid. She has also had blood transfusion and platelet infusion as part of her treatment.

Throughout it all she has used her sense of humour to help her through the darker days and there has been plenty of those! She is the bravest person we know and has strength we didn't know existed. She even shaved her own hair off when it fell out, telling me to stop crying because I just look like everyone else on the ward and you don't cry for them. She worn her headscarves with pride and totally rocked the look. On the outside she showed everyone her strength and determination.

However emotionally she struggled more than we realised at times, she found going back to school difficult as at times she didn't look like her (hair loss, weight gain with steroids) and prolonged periods of time off she felt she had no friends. Her friends have been such an amazing support they are BFFs forever. Over the last few months Caitlin has really struggled with taking her chemotherapy at home and it's heartbreaking to hear her say she is tired of it and just wants it to stop but know if she does the cancer will win.

So that was enough for me to start planning her dream... Caitlin's dream...
We have made a dream board and she has cut lots of pictures out of what she wants to do and what she would like to treat William too. She is finally starting to see the light at end of tunnel and it motivating her to keep going as she has just had enough! Well we all have if I'm honest.
